Initial fundraising hit a wall when potential donors and younger veterans questioned the practicality of building a new VFW Post due to a continual 30-40% drop in nationwide Post memberships.
After several brain-storming sessions, Veteran surveys, and property delays, we had to soul search and re-think our mission. And that's when it all came together. We became an official 501c3 non-profit in record-breaking time, acquired 10 acres of prime Hill country land, have starter money in the bank and are surrounded by a very driven community.
Patriots' Hall of Dripping Springs will be a permanent retreat for ALL veterans of ALL military branches AND their families to connect and find support through workshops, campouts and vet-to-vet mentoring.
And as initially promised, we will build a 1200 sq. ft. accent hall specifically designed for our local VFW and American Legion Post members.
So, why not Dripping Springs?
Texas has the second largest Veteran population in the country: 1,680,000. Hays County alone has 14,000 Veterans. Austin is consistently listed as the #1 city in America for returning Veterans seeking jobs. Forbes Magazine cites Austin as #1 in the 10 best places for Veterans to live.
