Turmeric & Sunlight: The Magic of Anthotype Painting

Step into the world of sustainable art with a unique, eco-friendly craft for all ages! Anthotype painting uses the natural, light-sensitive properties of turmeric and the power of the sun to create stunning, one-of-a-kind prints.

We will begin with a quick nature walk around the garden to scavenge for the perfect leaves, ferns, and wildflowers. Back at the workstations, we’ll arrange your gathered treasures onto turmeric-coated paper and let the sunlight work its magic, bleaching the exposed areas to leave behind a vivid, beautiful silhouette of your found items. There is a small $5 supply fee per participant to cover all of your crafting materials.

This is a fabulous, hands-on family activity that blends art and science perfectly. It is easy enough for toddlers, yet fascinating for adults. Come explore the garden together and create a beautiful, sun-kissed keepsake to take home!
